SH Blog: Cavaliers guard duo impressive in win over Clippers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have finished a combined 40-108 the past two seasons. Despite their growing pains following LeBron James’ departure, Cavaliers fans have an intriguing team moving forward. Cleveland won its first game of the season against Washington but arrived in Los Angeles after a two-game skid in which they lost to Chicago by 20 and to Milwaukee on Brandon Jennings buzzer-beating triple with 0.7 seconds left. Such is life for a talented yet youthful team: There will be surreal highs and

PG Tiers It’s a deep, talented pool at the point guard position. Most teams have an experienced starter, several backups are well worth owning and the rookie crop is interesting. These are one man’s opinions, early in the game. I don’t even attempt to compile “accurate” rankings, only these tiers. After adjusting for each league’s settings (and specific needs in categories or positions) my own cheat sheets will evolve over the next six weeks and no two will end up identical. Many SG have

I had a feeling that Richard Hamilton was due. Though still limited to 20 minutes, Rip scored 20 points, had 5 assists and 4 rebounds to make up for the absence of Derrick Rose (ankle) as he and Luol Deng (19 PTS, 10 REB) led the Bulls to a tough win. Carmelo Anthony had 29 for the Knicks, with Tyson Chandler (10 PTS, 15 REB, 3 BLK) playing well, but the point guard spot remains a problem. Baron Davis (8

Around The League WAS @ CHA: Jordan Crawford scored 20 and the Wizards’ bench had fun, especially James Singleton (18 PTS, 12 REB) and Cartier Martin (19) as the Bobcats made very little effort to defend their home court. Corey Maggette played just 19 minutes off the bench, but did score 23 points. TOR @ IND: Without Andrea Bargnani (calf) the Raptors started Amir Johnson, who had 16 points. James Johnson (4) is still coming off the bench behind Alan Anderson (17)
Hornets’ Jack has stress fracture, done for season
New Orleans Hornets starting point guard Jarrett Jack has a stress fracture in his right foot and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced Monday. Jack missed the team’s last three games with the injury. Although very few noticed because the Hornets are enduring a miserable season, Jack was having the best year of his career, averaging 15.6 points, 6.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds, all career highs. Jack had his first career triple-double with 17 points, 11 assists and
Lin streak over for Knicks; LeBron hot in Cleveland
Jeremy Lin’s joy ride was going to end at some point. But who believed it would be the bottom-feeding Hornets that channeled their inner Susan Powter to stop the Linsanity? Yeah, sure, Lin had another big stat line with 26 points, five assists and four steals. But he also had a league season-high nine turnovers, which went a long way toward an 89-85 loss that ended the Knicks’ seven-game winning streak. Lin committed eight turnovers in the first half. Five came in

Highlight Performance: Stephen Curry, GS– Coming off his poor 3-point effort last night, Curry blew up Thursday, scoring 29 points, dishing out 12 assists, grabbing 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. This was a huge night, as he stuffed the stat sheet from all angles, but this is the kind of upside Curry possesses. Other than his troublesome ankle which has given him issues throughout the season, when healthy, Curry has posted huge numbers, especially scoring. Although he posts the occasional dud,
