Following the Jimmy Valvano speech, in back-to-back games at 7:30 and 9:30, the Michigan Wolverines and Indiana Hoosiers had a chance to make a statement in front of anybody who was willing to tune into ESPN. Neither team disappointed their home fans nor their TV viewers: Indiana obliterated North Carolina by the score of 83-59, while Michigan won a hard-fought 79-72 contest over North Carolina State. It was a team night for Indiana and Michigan, but boy oh boy did individuals shine brightly on Tuesday
As was alluded to in last night’s blog, tragedy struck Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale and his family over the weekend. The news came two weeks after he took a leave of absence from the Rockets bench citing “personal reasons.” His daughter, Alexandra “Sasha” McHale, passed away at the early age of 23 from lupus. Chris Wilcox, a backup power forward for the Boston Celtics sent his condolences via Twitter on Tuesday.
We should all be grateful we are alive today. I say that to myself every time I hear of an unexpected death or tragedy, and that was certainly the case today when the Rockets announced that coach Kevin McHale’s daughter, Sasha McHale, passed away from Lupus at the tender age of 23. [Read more…]
Everyone has critics, some more than others. What often matters most is not the severity of said criticism or even that it happened, but how one reacts to it. Personally, I never got all that caught up in Linsanity. I appreciate his game, I love the reckless abandon he shows going to the hoop, I admire his knowledge and his devotion to his faith, and I called him “Time Magazine cover material” a week before he was on the cover of Time Magazine.
