While all of the focus has been on the soap opera swirl around the Los Angeles Lakers, the NBA’s other similarly storied franchise has its own set of issues. The Boston Celtics also raised expectations by adding some key pieces in the offseason, then promptly stumbled out of the gate. But there were no death stares, insurrections, coach beheadings or panic moves. But there are some problems in Beantown. Let’s allow team leader Kevin Garnett to explain. “You can’t speed chemistry up,” Garnett said.
Dirk Nowitzki Fantasy Fallout
The decision of Dirk Nowitzki to have knee surgery isn’t a complete surprise. It will cost him all of November, a definite setback to his owners, including Mark Cuban. If there’s any consolation, Dirk should be much better in the second half; the non-surgical option might have ruined his entire season, with the Mavericks and in fantasy leagues. You cannot replace a Hall-of-Famer. Elton Brand will start at PF. How much he has left, we’ll find out. Brandan Wright is also in

D.A. Jordan 8-for-8 vs. center-less Heat; Teletovic off-target; Watch Jon Leuer
Early this morning in Shanghai, the Clippers welcomed Chris Paul back to their lineup and evened the two-game series with the Heat. The Philadelphia 76ers had an impressive party of sorts on Wednesday for Andrew Bynum’s press conference, thanks to all the devoted fans (see the video below) that showed great love for their newly acquired center. Bynum will surely look to make a notable impact on the team, but the Sixers have other players of significance that will have to mature into greater roles if they wish to play at a high level as a team.
