As good as the Spurs have been during the last 16 years, there is an inevitable point each season when gloomy forecasts surface. We had one here recently. At times, doubts are legitimate. The Spurs have won five titles, but 11 other times, they had problems that kept them from winning, although some of those can be traced to the excellence of opponents. When a team like the Lakers had Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant in their primes, losing to them was
Bernucca: “They’re the Spurs” Might Not Be Enough This Season
Every time someone summons up the nerve to ask, “What’s wrong with the Spurs?” the defending NBA champions have provided an emphatic response: Nothing. They did it in November, beating the Clippers and Warriors on the road on consecutive nights after losses to Houston and New Orleans. They did it again in December, beating the Clippers to end a four-game losing streak that included back-to-back excruciating triple-overtime losses. And they did it again last night, beating the Rockets for the first time
SH Blog: Mavs Get Win in Rondo’s Debut, Cavs Handle Short-Handed Grizz
Rajon Rondo made his debut count with the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavs new point guard scored six points on 3-of-11 shooting and dished out nine assists, adding seven rebounds in a 99-93 victory. It seems like a typical Rondo night. The two playoff teams that did not have a player among the top 20 were Memphis, with stars Marc Gasol, Mike Conley and Zach Randolph, and San Antonio, who boasts the famed star quartet of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard. Obtaining, maintaining and sustaining a roster with All-Star level talent

How bad are the Philadelphia 76ers? What does their ineptitude mean in daily fantasy leagues? Last night Dallas built a safe 73-29 lead by halftime and coasted home to win by 53 points. Tonight the Sixers are obliged to show up Houston, where the main obstacle for the Rockets will be overconfidence. [Read more…]
SH Blog: Kawhi Leonard sees himself as a Spur for life, Joe Johnson rips Nets for ‘selfish’ play
Kawhi Leonard is back to form, and so are the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. And if Leonard and legendary head coach Gregg Popovich have their way, it’ll remain that way for quite a while as the franchise moves forward. [Read more…]
Fantasy Spin: Will Curry Stay Hot?
Kind of mad at myself this morning — for not winning enough. LeBron James, Gordon Hayward and Pau Gasol combined for 161.25 fantasy points, but the cheaper pieces they were surrounded with all disappointed. [Read more…]
