My attempt to master a relatively new form of fantasy basketball has its ups and downs. Wednesday was a lot of fun. After dropping $35 from the weekly $100 bankroll in just two nights, I joined a handful of $2 leagues. Entering the maximum three teams in two different GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) events paid off, as I replaced the injured Al Horford (and Greg Stiemsma) with Josh Smith and Ivan Johnson, who were both outstanding in the Hawks’ win.
Curry (31) Leads Warriors Over Thunder; Lakers Tailspin Continues
Once again, Stephen Curry (31 PTS, 7 AST, 3 REB, 4 STL) exceeded all expectations. If he isn’t named an All-Star, it’s a traveshamockery. David Lee (22 PTS, 12 REB) showed no sign of his ankle injury, Klay Thompson added 19 points and the two-man bench of Jarrett Jack (9 PTS, 8 AST, 3 REB) and Carl Landry (20 PTS, 7 REB) helped the Warriors beat another top team. SH Blog: Rudy Gay trade rumors, and is this the best team Melo’s played on?
When I first heard the Grizzlies were looking to move Rudy Gay, I was surprised. This is the best year the Grizzlies have had in recent memory, right? For a while they were sitting atop the vicious Western Conference, right? And even having cooled off a bit after their blistering 14-3 start, they’re still sitting in fourth in that vicious Western Conference, right? So why would they want to deal one of their best players? Of course, I thought the same sort
Bauman: A week in Boston; And What a Week it Was
BOSTON — What a week, what a week, in Beantown. From Rajon Rondo’s 17-point, 12-assist, 10-rebound performance in a win over the lowly Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, to the Doc-Austin Rivers father-son reunion on Wednesday, to the Marco Belinelli game-winning fall-away last night in overtime to give the Bulls a 100-99 victory, it was quite an entertaining week at TD Garden. Bauman: Kevin Garnett has come full circle
When Kevin Garnett came into the NBA as the fourth preps-to-pros phenom, he was a gangly, 6-11, 220 pound player with unmistakable skills and a burning passion and insatiable appetite for the game of basketball. He entered the league when Patrick Ewing was a dominant player, and last night his 15 points against New Orleans moved him past Patrick Ewing for 16th on the all-time scoring list. [Read more…]
Bernucca: Lackluster Lakers fooling themselves and their fans
Dwight Howard dominates the paint on both ends, Kobe Bryant plays less than 30 minutes for the first time this season, Steve Nash runs the offense with precision, the defense has its best game in weeks and the Lakers run away with a 20-point win in their Sunday home whites. So, everything’s back to normal again in Tinseltown, right? Who cares that it was against the Cavaliers, who lose three of every four games they play? Or that Cleveland was missing Anderson Varejao, their best
Hamilton: Melo’s Only Mistake Was Taking It Off The Court
NEW YORK — On February 6, 1995, Vernon Maxwell, then a member of the defending NBA champion Houston Rockets, pulled a Ron Artest while Ron Artest was still just a 15-year-old, acne-faced sophomore at New York City’s La Salle Academy. During the third quarter, with the Rockets trailing, 79-52, Maxwell did the unthinkable – he charged into the stands and punched Steve George, a 35-year-old fan, right in the kisser. Commissioner David Stern’s hand wasn’t as heavy back then. Maxwell got a
Hamilton: What did we learn from KG-Melo confrontation
I have already made my thoughts known about how I feel Carmelo Anthony should have handled his dust-up with Kevin Garnett the other night — a nice, hard flagrant foul. [Read more…]
