When we wrote last month that the Western Conference playoff picture would be filled in by the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, it was assumed that both teams would have their alpha dogs at power forward. Now that Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Love are both out until at least December, that picture could be changing. The decision of Dirk Nowitzki to have knee surgery isn’t a complete surprise. It will cost him all of November, a definite setback to his owners, including Mark Cuban. Dirk Nowitzki has knee surgery, out six weeks
Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday and will miss at least six weeks, jeopardizing the team’s hopes of contending in the Western Conference. According to a release from the team, Nowitzki had the surgery at Texas Sports Medicine, with the procedure performed by team orthopedic surgeon T.O. Souryal.
