Be it a fine or a suspension, we knew something big and bad was coming from commissioner David Stern. He had no choice but to do something significant after apologizing to the fans for what Gregg Popovich did and promising “substantial sanctions” against the San Antonio Spurs just before the start of their contest against the Miami Heat on Thursday. There were no suspensions of any kind, but Stern hit the Spurs organization with a hefty fine of $250,000 on Friday. Here
SH Blog: Ray Allen in shooters paradise in Miami; Latest NBA news
Ray Allen begins the play in the left corner. At the top of the key, LeBron James dribbles, refuses to use a Chris Bosh screen, and backs out with 30.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter. LBJ is set to begin a crucial drive into the paint. [Read more…]
Perkins: Only TNT is entitled to be mad at Popovich
MIAMI – Those weren’t the San Antonio Spurs that visited AmericanAirlines Arena and lost to the Miami Heat, 105-100, on Thursday. But that doesn’t give you reason to hate. We all know those weren’t the real Spurs, not the team that’s won four titles with its Big Three of forward Tim Duncan and guards Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. They were all in San Antonio, chillin’, relaxin’. [Read more…]
Spurs “B Team” Scares Heat; Win $1,000 Cash Tonight
When the news broke that four of the five San Antonio starters were getting the night off, fantasy owners of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were disappointed, and it really hurt to get a zero from Manu Ginobili after his 20-point explosion the night before. Appearing to concede a game on national TV is unusual optics, and Commissioner Stern promised “substantial sanctions” before they even started to play. Get the whole story from our Chris Bernucca. Gregg Popovich and his makeshift
LeBron James reclaims top spot in jersey sales

The NBA released the top 15 selling jerseys from April through Cyber Monday, and James has reclaimed the top spot. James last had the top-selling jersey in April 2011, less than a year after he joined the Miami Heat via “The Decision” and before his poor performance in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Tweet of the Day: LeBron James
Reigning league MVP and Miami Heat star LeBron James has been all over the television promoting new endorsements (like Beats by Dre headphones). In one of the better ad campaigns of the season, James has a funny moment at home with his family wherein his eldest son, LeBron Jr., makes a funny doodle (of clown hair) on a picture [of James] using the new Samsung Galaxy Note II while his younger son, Bryce, eats cereal. Monday, he sent out a tweet with
Durant (37) Keys OT Win; Lakers Crush Mavericks; Wizards Still Winless
The best friend of fantasy owners is overtime. Kevin Durant had a fantastic line in 48 minutes, but the extra five minutes made it even better. [Read more…]
FanDuel Diary: It Feels Good When You Win
Even after a winning night, it’s hard not to think of what might have been. Scoring a personal-best 337 points, I finished ninth out of 1,769 entries in the DFBBC qualifier, good for a $75 consolation prize but awfully damn close to a trip to Las Vegas for the live final in March. In the $5K NBA Shot, the same lineup finished 11th among 2,790 teams to win $55 and my ‘backup’ team got $10 for 129th place. Throw in a couple
