Congratulations to “chuckechips” who scored 271.75 fantasy points to win the $100 first prize in our Freeroll on DraftStreet. His pick of slumping Andre Iguodala was inspired. [Read more…]
DraftStreet Diary: New Fantasy Leagues Every Day; Win Cash
It’s great to be playing again at DraftStreet. Every Monday, I’ll start with a fresh $100 bankroll for the week and share my picks in this space once a day. Years of experience in traditional Roto and Head-to-Head formats doesn’t change the fact that I’m a relative novice in daily fantasy leagues. We’ll be learning together; just click on the logo to get started. While there are some interesting variations, the Salary Cap game is most appealing. The rules are simple,
Sheridan: Aside from Gasol, who else is likely to be traded?
For fans of NBA trade talk (and who isn’t?), there next big day on the calendar is Dec. 15 — the date when the majority of players who signed as free agents over the summer become trade-eligible. [Read more…]
Raptors sign Mickael Pietrus
In an effort to close their gaping hole at small forward, the slumping Toronto Raptors on Friday signed veteran Mickael Pietrus. No terms were disclosed. Pietrus spent last season with the Boston Celtics but was not re-signed. During the offseason, he was looking for either a multi-year deal or a one-year contract at more than the veteran’s minimum. The France native also contemplated playing in Europe. [Read more…]
Jazz win in 3OT and a New Year for Andrew Bynum
After weeks of silence, the 76ers finally revealed that Andrew Bynum got another MRI and will be sidelined until December 10 and will likely take up to 4 weeks to get him into game shape. MIL 105 @ PHI 96: The 76ers big men struggled without Bynum with Lavoy Allen disappearing again and Spencer Hawes only shooting 3 for 11 with 5 boards. The
The Other Dream Team was from Lithuania
// Sheridan at Vilnius University, Sept, 2011 In the United States, there is only one Dream Team. It was the 1992 Olympic Team. But here’s a little piece of trivia from someone old enough to remember. When Team USA played in the 1994 World Championship in Toronto, the team was branded “Dream Team II.” It wasn’t until after the Atlanta Olympics that USA Basketball realized there was no use in continuing that moniker. There was one — and only
Olympics: Team USA Tested By Lithuania, Russia Lurking
Team USA has been a spectacle in the Olympics’ first week, the conversation surrounding them filled with more oohs and aahs than X’s and O’s. We’ve dissected the records they’ve set more than the teams that they’ve beaten and gotten our compression shorts in a bunch over some hypothetical match up between 11 young NBA players (and Kobe Bryant) and 11 graying Hall of Famers (and Christian Laettner). Can this team beat the Dream Team? Who cares. Tell me about Russia. Up until now, Team
Fantasy Spin: Thursday Mar. 1
Kobe Bryant, wearing a mask to protect his broken nose, had 31 PTS, 7 REB and 8 AST as the Lakers trounced Minnesota. We know that Mamba is also playing with a sore wrist and maybe even a mild concussion. He’s one of the few athletes in any sport who seems impervious to pain. Kevin Love did not play, due to sore ribs and the flu, so this one was no contest. Anthony Randolph got 19 minutes and played well;
