Dwight Howard won’t be ready for preseason opener, perhaps longer
Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard will not be ready for the team’s preseason opener due to ongoing issues with his surgically repaired back. On Thursday night, the team confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Howard – the prize acquisition of the NBA offseason – is not expected to be ready when the Lakers open camp Oct. 2 or when they play their preseason opener five days later vs. Golden State at Fresno. Perkins: Wade was stunned by Nash-to-Lakers
MIAMI – From Dwyane Wade’s point of view, the Los Angeles’ Lakers second major acquisition of the offseason didn’t surprise him. Dwight Howard-to-LA was always on the backburner. It was the first one — the acquisition of Steve Nash — that caught him off guard. “They’re making a play for a championship,” Wade told SheridanHoops.com Saturday on his nationwide book-signing tour. “It’s not a surprising move that Dwight Howard went over there. Hope everybody is ok! — David Lee (@Dlee042) September 3, 2012 Just experienced an la earthquake wowwwww —

SH Blog: Rondo expects to win NBA title, plans to beat Jeremy Lin “pretty badly”
Today’s major news might make you very sad: Sasha Vujacic is no longer in a relationship with Maria Sharapova. Actually, most guys are probably happy to hear of this development (or not give a damn). In equally important news, former 90210 stars Jennie Garth and Luke Perry are not dating as previously thought. Jokes aside, we do have some very interesting material in today’s news, including a slew of noteworthy quotes from Rajon Rondo, an explanation of Dwyane Wade’s beef with Erik Spoelstra
