The big news of today is that Derrick Rose has another knee injury. This time, it’s not an ACL tear, but it is a meniscus tear, which obviously isn’t a good thing. This is terrible news for the Bulls, of course, but it could be good news for any team shopping a point guard. Orlando and Jameer Nelson, I’m looking at you. Also, do the Suns really need Goran Dragic right now? There’s not many prospective playoff teams in the market for
Marc Gasol out indefinitely with knee sprain
While the NBA world waits for news on Derrick Rose’s knee, the Memphis Grizzlies got some bad news on Marc Gasol’s knee. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is out indefinitely with a Grade 2 sprain of his left MCL. Surgery is not required, the team announced Saturday. The 7-1 Gasol suffered the injury in the second quarter of Friday night’s home loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He appeared to suffer the injury without contact while playing defense. Gasol left the
Mike Conley, Jamal Crawford and Tony Allen react to big game between Clippers and Grizzlies
Looking to stay undefeated at home were the Los Angeles Clippers as they hosted the Memphis Grizzlies – considered a rival after seeing them for two consecutive seasons in the playoffs – on Monday night. Instead, Chris Paul ate a swinging foot to the face from Tony Allen and the Clippers suffered their first loss at the Staples Center 106-102. Paul looked to penetrate into the lane late in the first quarter when Allen, who initially appeared to want to take a
Bernucca: Title contention a bridge too far for troubled Knicks, Nets
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the great landmarks of our country. And right now, it connects the home boroughs of perhaps the NBA’s two most disappointing teams this season. Remember all the back-and-forth this summer between members of the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets? Jason Kidd retired from the Knicks to coach the Nets. Raymond Felton questioned his Knicks being ranked below the Nets. Paul Pierce said it was time for the Nets to start running the city. J.R. Smith

Spain also had plenty of familiar names like Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Jose Calderon, Rudy Fernandez and Victor Claver. Unfortunately for Spain, they were missing two key players in Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro.

Eurobasket ’13: Top 10 things learned in Slovenia
Twenty-four teams came, and only eight remain at the 2013 Eurobasket. The pressure to qualify for the World Cup has lessened, but the pressure to bring home the gold is sinking in. At this point, one win in the Round of 16 (taking place today and tomorrow) gets you into the World Cup next summer, with only the 8th place team not gaining an automatic bid. (If Spain finishes sixth or higher, the seventh place team is in. The eight remaining
Five Things To Watch: Memphis Grizzlies
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Everyone is familiar with that old cliché. It’s one the Grizzlies understand well after the 2012-13 season. Over the past year, there has been a complete changing of the guard in the Bluff City. An ownership swap was the first domino to fall when Michael Heisley officially completed the sale of the team to tech mogul Robert Pera right before the regular season began. From there, the rest of the hierarchy was
