There was one “game” last night, the Rising Stars Challenge. While it was an entertaining exhibition, and Kyrie Irving a deserving MVP, we’re here to report fantasy news. Kawhi Leonard skipped the game with a sore calf that shouldn’t be an ongoing issue. Among the other rookies and sophomores, with no defence being played, a few performances were disappointing. Jeremy Lin, looking tired, was limited to 8:55 on the court and Blake Griffin (10:33) was also given plenty of rest,

Before we look at last night’s games, you might want to add J.R. Smith to your team. It’s being reported that he will sign with the Knicks, and play on Sunday. It’s a great fit; instead of trying to guess between Bill Walker, Steve Novak and Iman Shumpert, you can be fairly confident that Smith will soon be the primary bench scorer. In addition to threes, he’s a decent source of STL and REB. Don’t go overboard dropping a productive

Highlight Performances: Wesley Matthews, POR– After being undrafted out of Marquette, Matthews has come on strong this year, averaging over 15 points a game and 32 minutes per. Although many expected newly acquired free agent Jamal Crawford to steal playing time, Matthews has continued to be a very solid scorer and defender for the impressive Portland Trailblazers. Sunday Night was no different, as he scored 24 points, a steal, and 3 assists. Guards that can post 15+ points a game on

The Philadelphia 76ers have made a trade before playing a home game. On Wednesday, the Sixers – who become the last team to play their home opener when they entertain Detroit on Friday – sent little-used forward Marreese Speights to Memphis as part of a three-team deal. Here are the details, according to ESPN.com: “The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed in principle to the terms of a three-team trade with New Orleans and Philadelphia that will bring 76ers center Marreese Speights to the
