Years ago, Tony Wroten was one of the top high school players attending a basketball camp hosted by star point guard Deron Williams. This week, Wroten was guarding Deron Williams. “It’s crazy because, I remember when I was younger, I went to his camp and he told me pointers, and now I’m in the league going against him,” Wroten told Sheridan Hoops. As crazy as it may have sounded years ago, it seemed just as crazy months ago, when Wroten couldn’t get off
Tweet of the Night: Marc Gasol provides somewhat of an update on the status of his injured knee
It was considered somewhat of a slow start to the season when the Memphis Grizzlies barely managed to stay above .500 with a record of 7-5 through their first 12 games. Then they lost Marc Gasol to a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee against the San Antonio Spurs on Nov. 22. How bad have the Grizzlies been since losing the reigning Defensive Player of the Year? Including that Spurs game where Gasol managed to play less than 10
Bernucca: After slow start, the tank is rolling in Philly
Remember back in October, when the handicappers in Vegas said the Philadelphia 76ers would win about 16 or 17 games? And remember in November, when the 76ers started their season with three straight wins, beating the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls with Derrick Rose? Thanksgiving. The day in which we celebrate and give thanks for the harvest and the past year. Traditionally celebrated with a feast, often with family and friends. For many Americans, such a meal is common. But, there are plenty of people who do not have the means to enjoy Thanksgiving like the rest of us. Thankfully, there are many people with big hearts, willing to bear the burden of supplying those less fortunate with food for their own celebratory meals. People like
Sprung: Pacers Strive on Strong Defense and Intensity – UPDATE
The first thing you notice watching the undefeated Indiana Pacers is their intensity. More than the other seven teams this writer has seen in person this season, Indiana plays hard and aggressive basketball for 48 minutes. Indiana remained unbeaten at 8-0 after Monday’s 95-79 home win over Memphis. “We are just trying to play our style of basketball,” Pacers forward David West said after Indiana’s hard-fought 96-91 win over the Nets on Saturday in Brooklyn. That tough, tenacious style includes going hard on every
