Chris Sheridan joins CBS Sports Radio with Jody McDonald to discuss the Eastern Conference fear of the Miami Heat, Marquette Basketball and the Denver Nuggets, who are the team no one is talking about. [Read more…]
Bernucca: What’s “laughable” about Lakers is D’Antoni
After Friday’s dispiriting home loss to the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni could not take it any longer. D’Antoni went on a wide-ranging rant against his team, targeting its lack of commitment and effort on both sides of the ball. He said the Lakers were “messing with the basketball gods” and called their championship aspirations “laughable.” Although D’Antoni mentioned no one by name, very few wearing the forum blue and gold appeared exempt. Sheridan Hoops MVP Rankings After Week 21
You will not find any members of the Denver Nuggets on this list, which somehow seems unfair for a team that has strung together a 15-game winning streak that almost nobody outside of Denver seems to be aware of – what with the Miami Heat’s 25-game streak, the NCAA Tournament and the alarming number of recent meteor showers all providing worthy distractions. You may not even see George Karl as the winner of Coach of the Year when that award is
Sheridan: Must-See TV This Weekend is Bulls, not Heat
At a certain point in the next few days, you will get burned out from watching college basketball. Usually, it happens after the first two days when you realize your bracket has no chance of being the winner. At which point you tune back to your old faithfuls, like Tiger Woods at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, or the good, old NBA. Five Fast Facts from NBA Games: 3.20.13
As the college hoops begins the round of 64 on Thursday, the NBA had a very busy night on Wednesday. 11 games made up the NBA schedule on the 20th of March, 2013. The Heat are starting to show god-like qualities, as they not only won their 24th straight game on Wednesday, but they accomplished a small miracle by rallying down 27 points in the second half. In other NBA action, the Marc Gasol and Anthony Davis played tip-in the game-winner
Tweet of the Night: Micky Arison
The Miami Heat just can’t stay out of the headlines these days. Not with their incredible winning streak extending to 24 games, and certainly not with their unlikely (yet so likely) 98-95 comeback victory against LeBron James’ old team – the Cleveland Cavaliers – on Wednesday night. It’s hard to determine what was more amazing: the fact that a short-handed Cavaliers team -playing without their starting center and backcourt – went up by as many as 27 points in the third
Geltzeiler: As Heat go for 24, Beware the Denver Nuggets
All eyes in the NBA are on the Miami Heat — and with good reason. They get the Cavs tonight in Cleveland, the betting line has opened at 5 points (?), and the number of the night is 24 — the amount of consecutive victories Miami should have when all is said and done. But enough about them … for now. As we approach the stretch run of this NBA season, we have no shortage of interesting and competitive races for playoff
Tweet of the Night: Bill Simmons
On Monday, the Miami Heat’s ridiculous 23-game winning streak was the hot topic at hand, and rightfully so. It’s about time, though, that we start talking more about the Denver Nuggets. For much of the season, there was a clear-cut picture of who the top four teams in the Western Conference would be. San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder have fought for first place for most of the season, the Memphis Grizzlies have won 15 of their last 18 games, and the Los Angeles
