MIAMI – You look at LeBron James’ statistics – 25.4 points per game and a career-best 8.6 rebounds — and you begin to wonder … Is it possible James, the Miami Heat’s superstar small forward, could be a 20-10 guy? Could James, a perimeter player, average 10 rebounds per game? For the NBA’s 29th-best rebounding team, no less? [Read more…]
Sheridan: Heat lacking intensity, Warriors are for real
Earlier this week, Chris Perkins – our man in Miami – told us that the defending champion Heat aren’t ready to sound the alarms of concern over their recent play, which has looked a bit distracted. I spoke with Cinesport’s Noah Coslov about the same topic, hours after Miami’s dispassionate disposition continued in a last-second home loss to the Golden State Warriors. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: David Lee
David Lee has reason to be excited after his team’s latest 97-95 road victory over the Miami Heat – one of the toughest home teams in the league. The Golden State Warriors are not known as a team that go on long winning streaks on the road. Last season, they were 11-22 away from home. If that sounds bad, wait until you hear this: they were a combined 26-97 on the road from 2007 to 2011. So when the team left
SH Blog: Ball movement has Knicks in rhythm, on fire
During the pregame of Knicks-Heat on TNT, Marv Albert wasted no time targeting the biggest concern of the evening for Knicks fans. Would New York, minus Carmelo Anthony, be able to put the ball in the hoop? [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: J.R. Smith
Are the Knicks really this good? Good enough to blow out the Miami Heat, on their undefeated home floor, without Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert and Amare Stoudemire? That is precisely what happened Thursday night on TNT, where Raymond Felton absolutely went off with 27 points and seven assists and the Knicks hit an impressive 18-of-44 of their 3-point attempts to dismantle the Heat 112-92. It marked the second time the Knicks beat the team that knocked them out of the first round last
Perkins: Knicks-Heat will offer more insight on whether Stoudemire is needed
MIAMI – LeBron James. Carmelo Anthony. Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks. The NBA’s next big Thursday Night game is right around the corner. Forget about San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and his $250,000 act of defiance. That’s sooooo last week. The Knicks are coming to South Beach. And this game has meaning. It will give us another chance to consider how much New York needs Amar’e Stoudemire, and in what role. [Read more…]
James, Durant named Players of the Month
LeBron James of the Miami Heat and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who finished 1-2 in MVP voting and 1-2 in the NBA Finals last season, are the first two Players of the Month. In November, James led the Heat to an Eastern Conference-best 11-3 (.786) mark, averaging 25.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 53 percent. James tallied at least 20 points in all 14 games, marking the first time in his career he opened the season with
Hubbard: Stern’s response: Personal or Professional?
Although I believe there are a number of practices conducted by the NBA where it would be appropriate for David Stern to apologize, depriving Miami Heat fans of the thrill of seeing Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker is not one of them. You want to apologize for unacceptable behavior? Let’s start with that Miami public address announcer – the one who greets every basket like Mel Gibson greets torture in Braveheart. [Read more…]
