It seems like it was years, not weeks ago that Doc Rivers forced Boston’s hand and was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. While many believe it was a poorly handled situation by Rivers — and it was — that does not mean he left with hard feelings toward Boston. After all, everyone follows the track, some are just better at hiding the trail. [Read more…]
Evening News: Odom officaially charged with DUI; Bogut deemed 100% healthy; Valanciunas balling in Eurobasket games
In a rather humdrum day in the NBA, here’s what’s making news: Lamar Odom was officially charged with DUI, the Warriors tweeted that Andrew Bogut is finally 100% healthy, and Lithuanian sensation Jonas Valanciunas shining in Eurobasket ’13 games. (We have a fresh update on Eurobasket ’13 from international editor A.J. Mitnick, who reports on a bunch of Eurostash players and Euroleague stars, along with who is sitting pretty (Italy, France) and who is not (Croatia, Greece — although they
Five Things to Watch: Milwaukee Bucks
Capping off a mediocrity-defining three-year stretch that saw them finish ninth, ninth and eighth in the East, the Milwaukee Bucks should have entered the summer of 2013 with change as the most obvious mandate. As in change everything. Despite a return to the playoffs and encouraging progress from big men Larry Sanders, Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson, the Bucks had little to show for their efforts last season, as coaching upheaval and a dysfunctional locker room motivated GM John Hammond to take a
Suns trade Caron Butler to Bucks
Caron Butler was in Phoenix hardly long enough to work on his tan. Traded by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Suns earlier this summer, Butler was shipped to his hometown Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday in a deal that landed Ishmael Smith and Slava Kravtsov. The trade also created more cap room for the Suns, who exchanged Butler’s expiring $8 million deal for the combined $2.5 million of Kravtsov ($1.5 million) and Smith ($950,000). “This deal gives us significant cap space as well
Tweet of the Night: Caron Butler suggests he may be on the move from the Phoenix Suns
Caron Butler could not have been a happy camper when he learned that he and Eric Bledsoe were traded by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Phoenix Suns back in early July. You know it is a slow news day when the lead item of the evening news has to do with a player getting a haircut. But the appetite for news never ceases, nor does our determination to keep bringing you something to whet your appetite, like the discussion of steak in the Tweet of the Night (must-read for meat lovers and Milwaukeeans). And the Top 10 Worst Free Agent signings, which was posted today — and is a nice counterpoint to
Tweet of the Night: Larry Sanders excited to sign long-term deal with the Milwaukee Bucks
When will the Milwaukee Bucks become more than just a middle-of-the-pack type team in the Eastern Conference? Over the past 12 years, they have made the playoffs just five times – all brief, first-round exits. Things had not been much better in the four-year Brandon Jennings era when the team made the playoffs twice, including last season with an underwhelming overall record of 38-44. Perhaps recognizing the need to rebuild once again and to change personnel, they let free agent Monta Ellis
