The basketball Gods couldn’t have scripted anything better than Russell Westrbook’s three-pointer in OT to give the Oklahoma City Thunder a one point victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday. The final score in the trilling match was 113-112 and was back and fourth the entire evening. The contest could easily be the game of the year and one of the best shots in Westbrook’s young career. The few NBA players who weren’t in action last night took to Twitter immediately
Hubbard: For the Lakers and Kobe, it was good business
LOS ANGELES – Arriving in at LAX for Thanksgiving proved to be entertaining as usual. Kobe Bryant signed his two-year, $48.5 million extension Monday morning, so by the time my plane touched down late Tuesday, the irrational debate and cheap analysis was kicking into a higher gear among Lakers Nation. This group is one of my favorites because its members live in a self-contained universe where there are only two types of humans – those who are Lakers and those who
Fantasy Spin: November 30, 2013

Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin, one of the NBA’s top reserves this season, is out at least two weeks with a knee injury. According to the team, Lin has a Grade one sprain and contusion of his right knee suffered in Wednesday’s home win over the Atlanta Hawks. He will be sidelined two weeks before being re-evaluated. It is not the same knee in which Lin had surgery to repair a meniscus tear during the 2012 offseason, when he left the New
Sprung: How the Lakers are surviving without Kobe and Nash
BROOKLYN – How many NBA teams could survive the loss of their starting backcourt for nearly a quarter of the season? How many NBA teams could survive that loss when those two players are future Hall of Famers like Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash? Through 17 games, you can count the upstart Los Angeles Lakers among those teams. Thanks to an unlikely effective backcourt rotation quartet of Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks, Jordan Farmar and Nick Young, the Lakers are 9-8 and
Fantasy Spin: Friday, November 29, 2013
Thanks to the off day yesterday, no team will be traveling to play the second of back-to-back games, and so fatigue should not be a factor in the minutes key players get tonight. Because of injury uncertainties, notably in Los Angeles (Chris Paul), Houson (Jeremy Lin and James Harden), and Brooklyn (Andray Blatche, Brook Lopez), there are some potentially valuable cheap plays in DraftStreet leagues tonight. Be ready to switch one or two bargain plays into your lineup as game
