It was an odd day in NBA fantasy leagues, as three of the four games were blowouts. Only a handful of starters played significant minutes in the fourth quarter, resulting in a dearth of high stat totals. The only game that was reasonably in doubt with a few minutes left was Washington-Dallas. Today we will have much more action and bigger fantasy numbers will be generated. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin. [Read more…]
5 Fast Facts from Last Night’s Games — Beasley Shows Up, Ariza Shows Out, 2014 Draft Prospects Shine
Tuesday, November 12 was a slow night in the NBA. Only four games were held, and every single one was decided by double-digit margins. Nevertheless, there were noteworthy feats. Here’s everything that you need to know about what transpired. [Read more…]
SH Blog: Knicks To Pursue Kevin Love; Pelicans Sign Childress, Amundson; LeBron Not Happy With Teammates; Pacers Expect Granger Back This Week
As the NBA season kicks into high gear, two stories surfaced on Tuesday that should come as no surprise. And of course, they are centering around none other than, traditionally, the leagues two most popular teams: the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. In just two weeks, both teams who are annually expected to compete for a title, and at the very least, the playoffs, have turned into the leagues biggest trainwrecks. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Happy Birthday To Three Moms
Everyone has a mother. Unless you were constructed by scientists in a lab or birthed in a pod to provide electricity for the machines, you have a mother. And, for the most part, every mom is loved. Sure, there are bad mothers — like those that abandon, neglect, abuse or even kill their children. However, for those of us who were gifted the opportunity to be raised by good mothers, we love them very much. NBA athletes are no different. And, like all
Most Improved Player Rankings are back: Markieff Morris at No. 1
Give me the beat, Obie! Time to channel Eminem. Guess who’s back. Back again. Dayton’s back. Tell a friend. Guess who’s back … guess who’s back … guess who’s back … I’ve created a monster. ‘Cause nobody wants to see MVP’s no more, they want the Most Improved Player Rankings. Well if you want most improved, this is what I’ll give ya. A little bit of me mixed with some hard Snickers. (They’re stale. But I need the sugar rush). Sprung: Pacers Strive on Strong Defense and Intensity – UPDATE
The first thing you notice watching the undefeated Indiana Pacers is their intensity. More than the other seven teams this writer has seen in person this season, Indiana plays hard and aggressive basketball for 48 minutes. Indiana remained unbeaten at 8-0 after Monday’s 95-79 home win over Memphis. “We are just trying to play our style of basketball,” Pacers forward David West said after Indiana’s hard-fought 96-91 win over the Nets on Saturday in Brooklyn. That tough, tenacious style includes going hard on every
Fantasy Spin: Tuesday, November 12, 2013
The NBA saved the best for last, as the Timberwolves and Clippers played a tight game. decided in the final seconds. The key players on both sides came through, especially Kevin Love/MIN, who displayed a rare combination of rebounding and outside shooting prowess that left the Clippers TV announcers speechless at times. Not to be outdone, Blake Griffin/LAC and Chris Paul/LAC were effective on offense. DeAndre Jordan/LAC put up decent numbers, aside from his abysmal free throw shooting. While the
Schayes on Hazing: It’s a Locker Room, Not an Encounter Group
Like many sports fans, I have been following the situation with the Miami Dolphins that describes an incident as “hazing.” Two teammates, by most accounts friends, get into something that causes one to quit the team and the other to be suspended indefinitely without pay. Everyone in the organization from the coaches to the general manager is in fear for their jobs. When I read the articles trying to make sense of the situation I go from bewilderment to anger to head-scratching.
