There are less than a dozen games left in the NBA regular season, and the most dramatic race still going on is a five-team scrum in the Western Conference for three playoff spots. Those five clubs – the Warriors, Rockets, Lakers, Jazz and Mavericks – are separated by five games in the standings. [Read more…]
Sheridan Hoops Rookie Rankings: Week 21
Early next week, Rookies of the Month for March will be handed out. It is possible that Anthony Davis could end Damian Lillard’s stranglehold on the Western Conference honor, while the East will be a toss-up between Moe Harkless and Jonas Valanciunas. Davis, Harkless and Valanciunas have yet to win the award. But as we approach the season’s final month, it is the time where many previously unheralded rookies make a name for themselves. Last year, Atlanta’s Ivan Johnson broke through in

Heisler’s NBA Power Rankings After Week 21
So, the Heat have a winning streak going? I know, it’s been all over the press, which hardly signaled it was a big deal to me. Personally, after a lifetime in it, noting its tendency to, uh, get excited, if the press says something is up, I suspect it’s down. The Indiana Pacers, who many believe are the only potential threat to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference are awaiting the return of forward Danny Granger, once the face of the franchise. Tweet of the Day: Daryl Morey
With the NBA playoffs right around the corner and the field set for the most part, seeding is about all there’s left to wrap up in the regular season (if you’re not the Miami Heat). One knock on the NBA — relative to other sports — is that there is not a lot of turnover. The playoff bracket in the East is set, with only Brooklyn replacing Philadelphia from last year. Five Fast Facts From NBA Games 3.25.13
While there were six games on the NBA schedule Monday night, all the headlines came from just three. John Wall had two words to say — max contract — while the Miami Heat looked to extend their historic winning streak to 27 games against the Orlando Magic and the Denver Nuggets (quietly flying under the radar) tried to break their 15-game winning streak — tied for the most in franchise history — against the New Orleans Hornets.
