Congratulate the Orlando Magic and general manager Otis Smith. They’ve done the right thing by keeping center Dwight Howard. Orlando as to hold onto to Howard, the NBA most dominant center, as long as possible, which means beyond Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline. You only send Howard packing for a blockbuster trade proposal. If there’s no blockbuster trade proposal, keep Howard and re-evaluate things at the end of the year. Period. It should be mentioned that Howard, who can’t keep his mouth
Magic win, and Howard doesn’t want to be traded; Bucks get Monta Ellis
The Golden State Warriors traded Monta Ellis. But not to the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard. And not to the Magic to play with Howard. And Howard doesn’t want to be traded. But that doesn’t mean he is re-signing with the Magic. After Howard again reminded everyone why this mess is a really big deal – annihilating the big, bad Heat for 24 points and 25 rebounds in a 104-98 home overtime win – he said he would like to play out the season

NEW YORK — Hedo Turkoglu of the Orlando Magic has been suspended one game without pay for making contact with a game official, it was announced today by NBA vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson. The incident occurred with 3:47 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Magic’s 99-94 win over the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in Chicago on March 8. Thursday’s best game: Orlando at Chicago
Dwight Howard just wants to win, according to him. It remains to be seen if he stays in Orlando, but games like the Magic’s previous outing won’t be very convincing for the best center in the NBA. With the trade deadline approaching, Howard and the Magic suffered their worst loss of the season when they allowed Charlotte — the worst team in the league — to turn a 20-point deficit into a 100-84 win. The Magic (25-15) now have the daunting task
Sheridan likes Kaman to Pacers, Crawford to Grizzlies or Wolves; Hinrich to Lakers
// Almost all of the trade deadline attention is focused on Orlando, where the Magic have to figure out what they are going to do with Dwight Howard. But there are also other trades being discussed that have absolutely nothing to do with the Magic; trades that would take second-echelon teams to the next level. Chris Sheridan, editor-in-chief of SheridanHoops.com, sees
Heisler: D12, DWill Are Going … Nowhere
Counting down to… zip? If some players may go every which way by the trade deadline, they’re not likely to include any Dwight Howards, Deron Williams or even Pau Gasols. All three are, indeed, in play, but their destinations are a lot likelier to be revealed in June, no matter how much pure unadulterated BS you hear between now and March 15. Hey, it’s better than waiting to see if Ric Bucher thinks the Lakers should trade Kobe Bryant, the Bulls should trade
Bernucca: Winners and losers of recent trade deadlines
Eight days until the trading deadline. Eight days for the Indiana Pacers to find the missing piece for a legitimate run at the conference finals, or for the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire the player that makes them a playoff team. Eight days for the Orlando Magic to go all in on Dwight Howard or blow it up and start over. Eight days for the Atlanta Hawks to avoid the luxury tax or the Los Angeles Lakers to add to it. Eight days to
Biyombo outplays Howard as Magic lose to lowly Bobcats
If you are Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos, what are you thinking as you wake up this morning? For one thing, you’ve got to be grateful to be walking the earth for another day, still having your wits about you. But on the other hand, your team just had its most embarrassing loss of the season, your coach sounds apoplectic, your superstar’s intentions are unclear, and there is no way in hell you can convince yourself that your team is capable of
