Dwight Howard won’t be ready for preseason opener, perhaps longer

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard will not be ready for the team’s preseason opener due to ongoing issues with his surgically repaired back. This is somewhat of an interesting answer. Most would logically think that Yao Ming was the best player Shane Battier played with in his career (assuming Tracy McGrady was too fragile to consider by the time Battier joined the Rockets), but lets not forget that Battier also played with Pau Gasol in his first five seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. Remember when Blake Griffin suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee over the summer? We really haven’t heard too much about it since, but he is apparently just fine now and and would be ready to play if training camp opened today.
