We have had Paul George and Kevin Durant atop the first two editions of the SheridanHoops.com MVP rankings, and a new edition is coming out later today. Who is No. 1? You’ll have to wait and see, but a hint is given in this interview with Gordon Monson and Jake Scott on 1280 The Zone in Salt Lake City, where the topics of discussion included the Jazz defeating the Bulls to tie Milwaukee in the win column in Tankapalooze, the sorry state
Knicks fans should recognize a real superstar: Indiana’s Paul George
New York sports fans are very protectively delusional with players they consider stars or superstars. Just look at Mark Sanchez. Or 2013 Derek Jeter. The same thing seems to be happening with Carmelo Anthony, who New Yorkers remarkably revere as a megastar. In reality, Anthony is only average defensively and, so far this season, inefficient offensively. As we’ve seen throughout this season, Melo is certainly no Paul George. Just consider this sequence over the last five minutes and nine seconds of Wednesday
Sheridan’s MVP rankings: Nov. 20 edition — Kevin Durant at No. 1
Yeah, we’re all sick of the Pacers. I will be visiting with them tonight at Madison Square Garden when they destroy the New York Knicks in Mike Woodson’s final game, and I will close this paragraph by reminding y’all that I picked Indiana to win the NBA championship. I even went on the BBC prior to the season and advised 120 million viewers to place a wager on them when the odds were between 7-1 and 12-1. Something tells me Ladbroke’s has
SH Blog: How Good Are The Pacers? KD Says Wiggins Could Be Hall of Fame; J.R. Smith Rants on Twitter (Again), Fined by NBA (Again)
There aren’t many professionals in this country — young or old — that ever wake up regretting that they took advantage of the rare opportunity to get a good night’s rest. Despite last night’s Thunder-Warriors game on TNT, I decided to take a night to catch up on some sleep. [Read more…]
Sheridan’s MVP Rankings – Nov. 13 Edition: Paul George at No. 1
There is a temptation to put Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker on this list after what we all witnessed last night in Chicago. Think about it: Every NBA team – great, good or bad – had scouts and player personnel in attendance at the State Farm Classic, where Wiggins’ second half-heroics for Kansas outshined Parker’s 27-point effort for a Duke team that apparently has hired Andris Biedrins as its free throw shooting coach. Even the most diehard NBA fans couldn’t help

Indiana remained unbeaten at 8-0 after Monday’s 95-79 home win over Memphis. “We are just trying to play our style of basketball,” Pacers forward David West said after Indiana’s hard-fought 96-91 win over the Nets on Saturday in Brooklyn. That tough, tenacious style includes going hard on every
Sprung: Pacers strive on strong defense and intensity
The first thing you notice watching the undefeated Indiana Pacers is their intensity. More than the other seven teams this writer has seen in person this season, Indiana plays hard and aggressive basketball for 48 minutes. The Pacers did that again Saturday night – its fourth game in five nights- and came away with a hard-fought 96-91 win over the Nets at Barclays Center to go to 7-0 on the season. “We are just trying to play our style of basketball,” Pacers
SH Blog: Nuggets lose JaVale McGee; Pierce and Garnett still don’t talk to Ray Allen
Today the Knicks got destroyed by the Spurs. The Spurs are still great, and the Knicks are missing Tyson Chandler, but this can’t say good things about the Knicks’ ability to stay near the top of the East. [Read more…]
