It’s been a tumultuous week for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a solid four-game win streak against teams like the New Orleans Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks, the script has been flipped in Northeast Ohio. The Cavs are now on a four-game losing streak. An ugly losing streak. At times, we’ve seen glimpses of the brilliance of coach David Blatt’s offense. Unfortunately, at the same time, we’ve seen a nonexistent defense and a let’s-stand-around-and-watch-someone-dribble offense. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Reggie Miller Adamant Philadelphia 76ers Would Beat Kentucky Wildcats
Considering that the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats dominated the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks, winning 72-40 with relative ease, the question has since been posed as to whether the Wildcats would be able to defeat the hapless Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers are now 0-11. They are statistically among the worst defensively in the NBA and, likewise, also among the worst offensively. Still, for all of the talented, young big men that Kentucky boasts on their roster, Philly still boasts a lineup of grown
SH Blog: Chris Bosh saw too much ‘pressure’ in Houston, Chris Paul laments lack of home support
Besides money, why did Chris Bosh choose to re-sign for what appears to be a middling, post-LeBron era with the Miami Heat? Because in Bosh’s eyes, forming a bigger NBA title contender with the Houston Rockets would’ve been “nothing but pressure”. [Read more…]
Bernucca: 2011 Draft Contract Extension Scoreboard: Free Agent Market Just Got Crowded
On first blush, next summer’s free agent market seemed a bit fallow. The biggest names among 2015 unrestricted free agents have been out there for some time – Marc Gasol, Rajon Rondo, DeAndre Jordan, Paul Millsap and Tyson Chandler. A nice collection of players, sure, but nothing like the star power of the potential 2016 free agency market. Greg Monroe joined the fray when he accepted his qualifying offer from the Detroit Pistons. And there are likely opt-outs coming from Goran Dragic,
SH Blog: Steve Nash To Miss 2014-15 Season Due To Back Injury
It is always disappointing when a professional athlete is unable to leave their respective sports under their own terms. Two-time MVP Steve Nash seems to be a casualty of this unfortunate circumstance, as his 19th NBA season is over before it has even begun. [Read more…]
Five Things To Watch: Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns surprised everyone last season – including themselves – when they won 48 games and missed the playoffs only due to a couple of tough losses in the final week of the season. Goran Dragic had the best season of his career, Eric Bledsoe lived up to the potential his biggest fans envisioned and both Markieff Morris and Gerald Green were in the running for Sixth Man Award. Now entering their second season together – with a new key piece
SH Blog: LeBron James Returns To Akron In Latest Beats By Dre Spot; Celtics Defeat Nets In 44 Minute Game
The return of LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers has been lauded enough in terms of the impact that it means for the franchise for the upcoming NBA season. What has been lost in this is exactly how much this means for the Northeast Ohio community, specifically that in his hometown of Akron, OH. [Read more…]
Photo of the Day: DeAndre Jordan Flexing Off Cryotherapy
In the past year or so, cryotherapy has been gaining popularity in the NBA. Only a handful of teams use these futuristic cryo chambers, but players have apparently had positive feedback of the treatment. The Phoenix Suns were one of the first teams to have one at their facilities. When I hear the term “cryotherapy” or anything with “cryo” in the name, I can’t help but think of Austin Powers. That’s the huge machine that freezes and keeps someone in
