Despite 61, LeBron not Player of the Week
How do you score 61 points in a game and not get named NBA Player of the Week? Well, if you’re LeBron James, you total 58 points in the three ensuing games, all losses. James and the Miami Heat had one of their worst three-game stretches of the season, minimizing the impact of his 61-point explosion a week ago and giving Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors to Carmelo Anthony, whose New York Knicks had a rare good week. LeBron James wins Player of the Week, again
LeBron James won his second straight NBA Player of the Week award Monday. Kenneth Faried didn’t. Last week’s winners were James, the superstar of the Miami Heat, and Faried, the emerging young forward of the Denver Nuggets. This week it is James – for the record 39th time in his career – and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. James is practically making a mockery of the award. Pierce, Paul win Player of the Week Awards
NEW YORK — Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week. Pierce led the Celtics to a 4-0 week, averaging 25.0 points (nearly six above his season average), 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He scored a season-high 36 points in a 102-95 victory over Charlotte on March 26, and finished the week with a team-high 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists in Sunday’ 91-72
