My attempt to master a relatively new form of fantasy basketball has its ups and downs. Wednesday was a lot of fun. After dropping $35 from the weekly $100 bankroll in just two nights, I joined a handful of $2 leagues. Entering the maximum three teams in two different GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) events paid off, as I replaced the injured Al Horford (and Greg Stiemsma) with Josh Smith and Ivan Johnson, who were both outstanding in the Hawks’ win.
Tweet of the Night: Dwyane Wade
Did Dwyane Wade intentionally kick another player in his jewels? The groin kick against Charlotte Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions proved to be costly for Wade, who was suspended for one game without pay by the NBA on Thursday. Here is the play in question. The play looks bad simply because of where the kick ended up, but it’s hard to tell if the action was done with direct intent. As Wade will tell you himself, however, in no way was it done
Wade suspended for kicking Sessions in groin
You can’t kick a ‘Cat in the balls. Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been suspended one game without pay for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of the Charlotte Bobcats’ Ramon Sessions, it was announced today by NBA vice president of violence Stu Jackson. The incident occurred with 8:12 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 105-92 win over the Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena on December 26. Wade will serve his suspension when the Heat play
Shawn Marion, Kyle Lowry Hurt; Thunder Rolling
It’s been one of ‘those’ seasons for the Dallas Mavericks. Already without Dirk Nowitzki (knee) and with assorted other injuries to key players preventing them from getting used to each other on the court, plus the Delonte West soap opera, they still got off to a 3-1 start. Now they have lost Shawn Marion to a sprained MCL. The initial prognosis is “at least three games” and the Matrix himself calls it “a minor little thing,” so his teammates and fantasy
Bobcats Lineup Becomes More Fantasy-Friendly
This is the final night of exhibition games, and kicks off a huge weekend for fantasy basketball drafts. We hope the last six weeks of lists, opinions and advice has helped you prepare and that there’s a championship in your future. My draft tonight is in a 20-team keeper league, where I was able to collect three “extra” draft picks in trades last season. Each team keeps four players, so the draft begins in the fifth round, and Anthony Davis will

The theme will be “Five Reasons to Feel Positive About … ” We encourage you to follow the authors on Twitter and visit their sites. – CS) The Bobcats of last season were 100 percent tragedy. They were an utter disaster on the court, making NBA history with the worst season winning percentage. Thankfully for them, the shortened season
SH Blog: Lou Williams is returning home, Steve Novak isn’t
NBA exhibition games have started, and we’re all counting down the days until Opening Night. In the meantime, we’re running a series of 30 guest columns on why fans of almost any team in the NBA can feel positive (we haven’t done the Bobcats yet. Or the Rockets. Both are coming this week) The latest installment covers the Pacers, and is written by Tom Lewis of Indy Cornrows. Also, Nick Gibson has his first Euroleague column of the season, as play has already
Hamilton: Biggest Losers Among NBA Players This Summer
Commissioner David Stern wanted to level the economic playing field and curb overspending by the NBA’s bigger markets with the new CBA. Some very useful players got squeezed this summer, while some not so deserving players cashed in major checks. Some guys such as O.J. Mayo and D.J. Augustin did it to themselves. Others such as Devin Harris and Mickael Pietrus were victims of their own circumstances. But at the end of the day, a win is a win, and a loss
