The first day of November featured 26 NBA teams in action in 13 games, 10 of which were decided by single digits. Three teams won by three points or less, and one game went to overtime. There were game-winning 3-pointers, stunning upsets and uncharacteristically poor performances by some of the best players in the world. Here’s what you need to know about what transpired on November 1. 1. With a 101-100 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Miami Heat have dropped to
Tweet of the Day: Rubio Excited for Wolves Basketball
As expected, the Minnesota Timberwolves have picked up the fourth year options on Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams contract’s, the team announced today. It’s been speculated the third year players would both be picked up to avoid unnecessary bidding wars with another team once they hit free agency. Rubio, who’s career is finally on track, was excited about the news. “@Twolves_PR: #Twolves officially announce the team has picked up fourth year options for @rickyrubio9 and @RealDwill7” yessir!!!!! — Ricky Rubio (@rickyrubio9) October 26, 2013 Everything
NBA Proposition Bets: A Different Angle
In the past few weeks I have written columns on the NBA futures market (to win the championship) and over/unders on regular season win totals, which is always something that intrigues not only bettors, but fans, too, because it gives them a barometer for how their team may perform in the upcoming season. The last item on the menu before the regular season starts next week is some of the more exotic proposition bets on the NBA betting menu which get
Tweet of the Day: Gorgui Dieng, Ricky Rubio Have Brief Twitter Exchange
Minnesota Timberwolves rookie big man Gorgui Dieng took to Twitter on Tuesday to make a request of his star point guard and teammate, Ricky Rubio. Can I get ur autograph please @rickyrubio9 lol — Gorgui Dieng (@GorguiDieng) October 22, 2013 While inquisitive, his question also seems to have a tinge of sarcasm. We can only guess what the backstory to this might be. With only 16 tweets in the month of October, Dieng isn’t exactly the most active user of the social media platform. Rubio seemed
Preseason Playoff Picture: Western Conference
In a teleconference last week, we asked NBA analysts Chris Webber and Greg Anthony to pick a Western Conference team which missed the playoffs last season but will make the playoffs this season. “Dallas, mainly because of Dirk Nowitzki,” Webber said. “He’ll be back healthy. What he does, with spacing, getting guys involved … We take his game for granted.” “I would go with the Pelicans,” Anthony said. “I think that’s a team that could make sizeable leaps and surprise a lot

Tweet of the Night: Batum, Rubio, Gasol and others react to EuroBasket semi-finals between Spain and France
European basketball, aka EuroBasket, is well represented by notable NBA players (former and current), and plenty of them were in action on Friday in the semi-finals between Spain and France. France boasted a lineup of Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, Boris Diaw, Alexis Ajinca and Mickael Gelabale. Spain also had plenty of familiar names like Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Jose Calderon, Rudy Fernandez and Victor Claver. Unfortunately for Spain, they were missing two key players in Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro.
