What do you do when your two favorite teams are playing each other? That’s the dilemma I’m in tonight. I’ve decided that I’m rooting for the team that’s doing better this season, but that doesn’t make rooting against the other team much easier. Tonight’s big game is probably Knicks-Bulls, but the NBA’s best team, the Memphis Grizzlies, are in action as well against the Hawks. Here on Sheridan Hoops, we’ve got Charley Rosen with (hopefully) the last word on the Phil
Tweet of the Day: Roy Hibbert
Nobody is perfect. Nobody can be expected to do their job perfectly. Yet, after entering the 2012-13 NBA season with high expectations, Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert has yet to live up to the high expectations brought on by the new $58 million four-year max contract that he signed in the offseason. His critics are everywhere and nowhere, seeing as a lot of them are internet writers. Still, he has not given up hope that he will be able to get out of his
Bernucca: Money for nothing, checks for free
Now that we are about a month into the NBA season, are you disappointed in the performance of a player or two on your favorite team? Take a number and get in line. There are dozens of players who are not coming close to meeting expectations this season. And when you factor in their salaries and how much they limit their team’s financial flexibility, it can be downright infuriating. [Read more…]
Fan Duel Diary: Enjoy the Night Off
Congratulations to “ajhoff32” for scoring 309 points to win the $325 first prize in our $1,500 tournament last night. My team struggled in 69th among the 167 entries, as bargain picks Alexey Shved and Moe Harkless were disappointing. Down $16 now from the original $100 bankroll in Week 4, I’ll have to wait for tomorrow to get even, as there are no NBA games tonight. Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends and your loved ones. On Friday, there’s another DFBBC qualifier.

And if Otto Porter of Georgetown does to No. 1 Indiana what he did against UCLA, he will have officially stolen the spotlight from Shabazz Muhammad. [Read more…]

SH Blog: Bynum hurt bowling, D’Antoni listed as “day to day”
On Sunday, the NBA started an hour before the NFL with the New York Knicks hosting the Indiana Pacers. The Knicks were coming off their first loss of the season Friday at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies. They made sure that wasn’t going to happen again, outclassing the Pacers in an 88-76 victory. SH Blog: Ibaka shows why Thunder valued him at $48 million
How could the Thunder possibly think that signing Serge Ibaka was a higher priority than James Harden?!? Well, we have recent evidence. If you’ve heard the phrase “Defense wins championships,” then you might have some idea as to why the Thunder decided to re-sign Ibaka to a four-year, $48 million deal that helped to ensure James Harden was shipped out of town to the Houston Rockets. ‘Defense’ is the word that helps people to understand Ibaka’s value to the Thunder, but his work
