The Oscars are over, and since I once again didn’t watch them or see any of the nominated movies, let’s get this Oscar-themed edition of the Most Improved Player Rankings under way! Because nothing says “entertaining column” like a bunch of misinformed pop culture references! As always, these awards are for the players in the “Rankings Academy” only, meaning they have to be in consideration for our table. The envelopes, please … Best Supporting Actor: Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors. I mean, come on.
Rookie Rankings, Week 15: Sizing Up the Sophomores
Once a year, we take a break from evaluating rookies and examine how second-year players are doing. This seemed like a good week to do that. Because our Rookie Rankings run every Friday, this week’s cycle saw just two actual games played due to the extended All-Star break. And no rookies from our most recent rankings played in those games. Yes, we knew the trading deadline also was this week. But we didn’t think that would impact our rankings of sophomores. I mean,
NBA Players React to Trade Deadline Deals
The NBA trade deadline usually brings a lot of activity with it each year. Thursday, however, there was a surplus of trade activity. It almost seemed as if, if there was a deal to be done, it was done. If you’re looking for the details of the trades, our own Chris Sheridan broke down the trade deadline activity earlier this afternoon.. Curry says he still has a lot of work to do, Schroder hopes to become a starter one day and more from All-Star weekend
New York — It’s really hard to be a fan of the NBA and not like everything about Stephen Curry these days. First and foremost, you have the on-court aspect. By now, it’s well-documented that he is one of the most gifted shooters the league has ever seen, and that ability was on full display during Saturday night’s 3-point contest. Bernucca: For West Teams, Trade Grades as Deadline Arrives Early
After last week’s loss in Atlanta, Memphis Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger – whose team has the fifth-best record in the NBA – lamented his roster’s shortcomings. “We have to get another playmaker on the floor,” Joerger said. “We’re going to have to start playing multiple point guards (at the same time). We’ve got to be able to get inside of defenses.” It doesn’t matter that the Grizzlies have been at or near the top of the league for most of the season.

The Utah Jazz suffered a tough 99-94 loss on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, but the team has much to look forward to for the remainder of the season and beyond, thanks to the presence of Rudy Gobert. Gobert has been inserted into the starting lineup over the past four games due to an ankle injury to Enes Kanter, but the second-year center is starting to prove that he belongs with the first unit even when Kanter
