The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t even the best tankers in their own division these days. After the Sixers boosted their record to 5-28 with a win over the Cavs, the worst team in the Atlantic — and the entire NBA, for that matter — is undoubtedly the 5-32 New York Knicks. The Knicks have now lost 12 straight, and dealt away both Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday in a deal aimed solely at cap relief (Smith has

Hubbard: Any Truth to Gloom and Doom Forecasts for Spurs?
As good as the Spurs have been during the last 16 years, there is an inevitable point each season when gloomy forecasts surface. We had one here recently. At times, doubts are legitimate. The Spurs have won five titles, but 11 other times, they had problems that kept them from winning, although some of those can be traced to the excellence of opponents. When a team like the Lakers had Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant in their primes, losing to them was
Bernucca: “They’re the Spurs” Might Not Be Enough This Season
Every time someone summons up the nerve to ask, “What’s wrong with the Spurs?” the defending NBA champions have provided an emphatic response: Nothing. They did it in November, beating the Clippers and Warriors on the road on consecutive nights after losses to Houston and New Orleans. They did it again in December, beating the Clippers to end a four-game losing streak that included back-to-back excruciating triple-overtime losses. And they did it again last night, beating the Rockets for the first time

The Mavs new point guard scored six points on 3-of-11 shooting and dished out nine assists, adding seven rebounds in a 99-93 victory. It seems like a typical Rondo night. He didn’t score until the third quarter, was well below 40% from the floor, but made all the plays we’ve seen him make in Boston the past eight plus years. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Boris Diaw explains why the game against Portland was difficult
Whether it’s the Philadelphia 76ers or Portland Trail Blazers, Gregg Popovich is unwavering in his ways. With the San Antonio Spurs playing on the second night of a back-to-back against the Trail Blazers on Monday, the coach elected to sit out four key players in the rotation in Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tiago Splitter. To be fair, Parker has been dealing with a hamstring issue, Ginobili was listed as out with a lower back contusion and Splitter was
