The Slam Dunk contest mostly turned out to be a snooze fest of sorts. Saturday night actually kicked off with a promising reverse dunk off the side of the backboard from former champion Gerald Green, but took a dive from there, as the contestants repeatedly failed to convert their attempts on the first couple of tries. The Golden State Warriors are generally recognized as a very nice, non-confrontational type of group, led by their coach and pastor Mark Jackson, who will never use a curse word to get his point across. Apparently, that attitude does not fly with center Andrew Bogut, who went on a rant about the lack of defense played by his teammates after suffering another embarrassing defeat to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night at home. Be it a fine or a suspension, we knew something big and bad was coming from commissioner David Stern. He had no choice but to do something significant after apologizing to the fans for what Gregg Popovich did and promising “substantial sanctions” against the San Antonio Spurs just before the start of their contest against the Miami Heat on Thursday. There were no suspensions of any kind, but Stern hit the Spurs organization with a hefty fine of $250,000 on Friday. Here
