It was hard to win the big bucks at DraftKings on Big Wednesday unless you built around Kyrie Irving, who drained eleven 3-pointers — including the game-winner — for a career-high 55 points, best in the NBA this season. [Read more…]
Fantasy Spin: All Eyes On Rockets-Warriors Rematch
Hope you cashed at DraftKings last night. Most winning teams had Kevin Durant $10700, Russell Westbrook $10200 and Kawhi Leonard in their lineups, but Dion Waiters $5000 (1-9) and Serge Ibaka $6900 (foul trouble) were costly mistakes. [Read more…]
Scotto: Green, Grizzlies Believe He Is Missing Piece to Title Run
BROOKLYN – You don’t need a watch to know the time for the Memphis Grizzlies to win a title is now. If you did, acquiring Jeff Green was the beeping alarm clock that woke up the rest of the Western Conference. With Green, Memphis has the missing piece to compete atop the vaunted West. [Read more…]
Fantasy Spin: DMC Towers Above Rivals; Dailies Close At 3:00 EST
Congratulations if you keyed on Pau Gasol last night. A career-high 46 points came out of nowhere, along with 18 rebounds. Nikola Vucevic (34 PTS, 16 REB) was another brilliant play despite the ‘ankle injury’ that scared me away. D’oh! [Read more…]
Sheridan: Who will the All-Star Reserves Be in West?
New Year’s Day brought the latest round of All-Star balloting returns, and it’s a safe bet that the five leading vote-getters in each conference will remain there. In the West frontcourt, Anthony Davis is a shoo-in, with Blake Griffin and Marc Gasol second and third, and Tim Duncan trailing Gasol by 55,000 votes. In the East, John Wall and Dwyane Wade are No. 1
SH Blog: Mavs Get Win in Rondo’s Debut, Cavs Handle Short-Handed Grizz
Rajon Rondo made his debut count with the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavs new point guard scored six points on 3-of-11 shooting and dished out nine assists, adding seven rebounds in a 99-93 victory. It seems like a typical Rondo night. He didn’t score until the third quarter, was well below 40% from the floor, but made all the plays we’ve seen him make in Boston the past eight plus years. [Read more…]
Fantasy Spin: Grizzlies Mauling Opposition
Ten more NBA games are on tap for Wednesday night, with the most interesting in Houston. Not 100% sure it’s a great play in daily fantasy, as both the Grizzlies and Rockets are excellent defensively, but with Dwight Howard (knee), Patrick Beverley (hamstring), Terrence Jones (leg) and Isaiah Canaan (ankle) all unavailable, I’m leaning heavily to Memphis.
